This Way UP!

Thursday, June 24, 2010

A quick page I did of Urijah using only stamps, chalk ink, and letter stickers. Plus a few scraps of paper! I love my chalk ink and use it almost exclusively. Originally, I was going to stamp a bunch of circles but then remembered that I'd just received this Sassafras stamp set in my last Peachy Cheap order and figured they'd be perfect for a page of him tumbling up, down and around.

Kudos to Mama Leija for snapping these photos of her grandson. She's not a photographer by any means but I'm so happy that she got these shots! It's something that he's constantly doing and I'm glad that we now have it documented. Oh the simple pleasures of scrapbooking!

Telephone/Round Robin

Tuesday, June 22, 2010

This is a layout I did well over a year ago, for that mini Europe album I never got around to finishing =/ But I wanted to showcase it here because it features one important element...the telephone!

Remember that game we all played when we were younger, telephone. Where all the kiddos line up and someone whispers a secret and down the row it goes. But at the end, the secret has become this garbled message that doesn't hardly resemble the original.

Well, that's the challenge I'm hosting this coming week on Scrapbook Challenges. But instead of whispered secrets, we're passing along scrap-lifted layouts!! I'll pick an initial layout and send it to the first person who's signed up on the list. She (or he even) will scraplift that layout and then send her scrap-lifted layout on to the next person on the list. And so on and so forth.

Eventually, when the challenge is uploaded, everyone will be able to see the evolution of the scrap-lifted page. How fun is that?!

So to play along just become a member over at Scrapbook Challenges and sign up at this thread in the forum, in the Scrapbook Chat category. The deadline for signing up is this Thursday, June 24 by 8 pm CST.

I hope some of you all will come play!

Sketch 205

Monday, June 21, 2010

I've got some sketchy goodness to share with you today! Above, is Sketch #205 from Scrapbook Challenges. Below, is the layout I created for this sketch and for the Scrap and Stamp Saturday challenge blog.

I've been hurting for new photos lately. So when we visited Urijah a few weekends ago, I had my camera ready to document it all! Plus, my little guy is always a welcome source of inspiration. Which is how I incorporated the challenge at S&S. He is always a source of inspiration and lately, the only "subject" I've actually been inspired to scrapbook!

I used a Heidi Grace stamp for the background, along with my Versamark Ink. I simply stamped and turned it a few times to create my one of a kind background. I highlighted the "You & Me" part of the stamp by outlining it with brown pen which really made it pop!

So yeah, be sure to stop by Scrapbook Challenges for some oh so fun challenges and sketches. And if you're in for a fun twist on a favorite child game, check out tomorrow's post for details on the challenge I'll be hosting next week! Happy Scrapping :)

Happy Papa's Day!

Sunday, June 20, 2010

Happy Father's Day to all the Daddy's out there! Here's a quick card I made for my Papa this year. He's a big fisherman and has been since I was born. So I've spent a lot of time fishing with him and running around fishing stores as well. I always loved the lure isle because of the fun colors and silly worms. So my ingenious idea this year was to highlight one. I picked this guy not for it's technical capabilities, but for its awesome colors! If he uses it or not doesn't really bother me. It was just something pretty I wanted to use :)

Stampin Good Summer

Tuesday, June 15, 2010

Hey friends, old buddies, old pals! I know, I know. I've been really MIA and neglectful of this blog. Lots of craziness going on in real life but I'm back to scrapping and ready to take on a new summer challenge.

I wanted to take on a new challenge but not one as extensive (or draining) as Mini Book May. I can't say that I came up with this one my own, because my dear friend Leigh mentioned that she was going to become a stamping fool this summer and I wanted to join her! This summer I'm challenging myself to bust out those boxes of stamps and incorporate them into my scrapping. If not on every layout, at least every other, I want to include a stamp or two.

These are the first layouts I've created to get out of my scrapping rut and that also include my new summer challenge. The first is for this week's Sunday Sketch on the Studio Calico blog. That little red teepee so perfectly coordinated with the gorgeous new Jenni Bowlin papers, prefect for these photos!

This was a quick fun layout of Urijah and Mama playing. He laughs hysterically whenever Mama sings "Monkeys" to him. I found that so cute sock monkey paper by Creative Imaginations, at my favorite LSS Scrapbook 911. I paired with some scrap polka dot paper, added some brads and my favorite new Thickers!

It feels so nice to be scrapping and blogging again. Hopefully, my next post won't be weeks away! Happy Scrapping :)

Friends & Family

Friday, June 4, 2010

So I'm back to my sketchy ways. These are a few layouts I created towards the end of last month, both based on sketches.

This is a very simple and basic layout created with a Sketchy Thursday sketch from a few weeks back. Before we started to consider shutting down Handmade Love, we'd already put some thought into the next round of challenges. The next All About Me challenge would have been to scrap a childhood memory.

Well, this isn't too far reaching into my childhood, more like middle/high school. But Papa and I use to go on movie dates a lot. Every once in awhile we'd go out to dinner and catch a movie, just for fun. I hadn't really thought about how not everyone does these kinds of things with their dads. It was something special that we did together and I had to document it.

This layout was created for Scrapbook Challenges and features Sketch 201. Seriously, Pamela is amazing with these sketches! 200 is a milestone and she's still going strong! I loved the circle elements at the bottom so I turned to my new little trick of punch 1 photo several times. The photo was originally of the 4 of us side by side but I punched (pun intended) it up a bit. And turned back to Basic Grey's Max and Whiskers line. See it's not just for pets!

[Sigh] {a good one that is} it feels nice to be blogging again. I'm all ready to tackle some photos now. Might just have got some mojo back! Happy scrapping lovlies!

Winner Winner!

Ahhh!!! This is 4 days late, I know. I'm sorry! Life took an unexpected turn for the crazy! With being out of town for the holiday, going on an actual job interview only to find out they thought I was overqualified and a whole mess of other things in between, this got pushed to the back burner and I apologize. But I'm back and ready to announce the winner of the above mini giveaway.

The giveaway includes a Maya Road Chipboard binder, a shaped chipboard album, some paper bags ready for album creation and a few other fun odds and ends! So without further adieu the winner of the Mini RAK is..................................................................................

TRACY!!! Tracy is the sweetest blog reader, she always has a comment for my crazy rambling posts. Which is always appreciated :) So Tracy, get in touch with me if I haven't contacted you already (that's next).

Thank you to all my blog readers for making *Mini Book May* and *Mini Book Monday* oh so fun!
