Family Portraits

Friday, April 22, 2016

This was the last and final page I made during the [InkieQuill] [ScrapStream] this past weekend. It was totally fun and super simple to make!
I was inspired by the shirt Joyce aka Matt's mama (as if you couldn't tell!) was wearing. It was stripped navy and had these great white flowers across it. So I pulled out some navy scraps from my scrap drawer and a few red washi tapes and stuck them down to my background paper.
I cut out some white leaves and placed them behind the photos, curling towards the edges of my page. My title was cut with the Silhouette using the print and cut feature. Although it didn't cut out quite right (i.e. what I was seeing on my screen didn't match the end result) I still went with it.
I added a few blue and red buttons and brads and some silver mist just along the sides and was done! I love it when a pages comes together quickly and easily.

As if you couldn't already tell, I had so much fun playing alongside Adele during the ScrapStream. I can't wait for the next one, which is scheduled for iNSD! This year I'll actually be able to join in on some NSD fun!

I had so much freakin fun participating in Adele aka InkieQuill's ScrapStream No. 3! It was like cropping with a friend. I got up to my own scrapbook mischief and made five pages. I created with no rhyme or reason. Just went through some of my latest photos, printed them in sizes I thought would work (some didn't) and made pages without kits or parameters. Like I said, so much fun!
If you're interested in watching the not live ScrapStream you can see it here [Part 1] [Part 2] I'm definitely planning to re-watch the parts I was asleep for.

I think I'll blog about one of these each day this week! So check back to find out more :)

Wedding Mini

Saturday, January 23, 2016

Last September, Matt and I were in Ohio for his little sister's wedding. It was a beautiful wedding and a fun time! The whole family knows I'm the resident scrapbooker so I was teased about what I might do with all of the photos I was taking.

For Christmas, I put together a very quick and simple mini book for the couple. I had a ton of photos, but I opted to make the whole thing just about the two of them. It came together really quickly with the help of the Best Day Ever Class Kit from Big Picture Classes.

Good morning! Man does it feel great to be scrapping and blogging again =) I'm still scrapping out of boxes, but I'm hopefully I'll spend a good chunk of next week getting my scrapbook area set up and organized.

In the meantime, I made a few Christmas gifts that I wanted to share. It was frustrating to want to use some things I knew were packed, but I made these work in the end.

Here's a shadowbox (is that what we're calling these?) of Matt and his sweet Grandma Rose.

I love this smaller size and the 3 little boxes to decorate. It makes it easy! Well, as easy I'll let it. These tiny spaces are hard for me to fill for some reason! These 3 took me hours to make because I kept shifting through options, trying to find what I wanted.

I drew a lot from the colors in each of the photos. Grandma Rose's shirt helped me pull in some blues and pinks, and the trees helped with the greens and yellows.

I used a hodge podge of products on all of these. Most notably on this one, I used some of the new 5th & Frolic from American Crafts and the Crate Paper Trendsetter I think it's called.

For this one of Matt and his family, I pulled out greens, blues and khakis, plus some black for good measure. Products are from Studio Calico, American Crafts, Basic Grey, Echo Park and the Girls Paperie.

But I think I had the most fun putting this one of Matt and his sister together. Jenn's shirt made for such a pretty jumping off point. There's some Dear Lizzy, Crate Paper, Amy Tangerine, Crate Paper, Echo Park thrown in here.

So yes, 3 presents done!! 5-6 more to go! Be sure to check back for more of these lil trays. Also, check back this week for the wrapping and decorating of the presents. Arguably, this might be my favorite part =)

December Mini Pages

Sunday, January 22, 2012

How has it only been less than a month since Christmas?! And here we are, a full 22 days into 2012!

Whether you're having fun or not, time just flies!

Before it got too late into the new year, I wanted to scrap some of my Christmas photos.

This year, MT and I flew out to Ohio to spend the Holiday with his family.

It was my first Christmas with the Tomerlins and also our first flying trip anywhere.
We survived the flight together and once that was over with the rest of the holiday was a breeze.

We ate tons of great food, caught up with his friends and just relaxed in general. It was a great time marred only by the brief altercation between me and their Grinch dog, Teddy (seriously, he looks a little like the dog from the Grinch!).

Yeah, well...he decided to give up his spotless no bite record this Christmas. His chosen victim, me of course! It's nearly a month later and I still have the mark on my hand. But even that couldn't take away from the lovely time we had.

I didn't take many photos (shocking I know!) but I do love the images I managed to capture.

Like this one of Matt and his Grandma Rose next to the Christmas tree.

I'm loving her Christmas sweater and of course the lovely lady herself! She's the sweetest little woman and she adores her grandson.

And this one with the whole (as in only 5!!!) Tomerlin clan in front of the tree.

I love photos like this, when you can see how all of them resemble each other.

And how happy Matt looks because he's with his family.

And then just fun shots from Christmas morning, taken with instagram.

Of siblings being silly together...

and of the tree, laden with gifts.

Can't it be Christmas time again already?!
