WITL-Tuesday

Tuesday, October 20, 2015

In tandem with my 31 at 31 page, I decided to do a quick Week in the Life as well. This is still in progress. I'm just really bad at pocket pages when I have to a whole series of them! The photos are printed and in pockets. I just need to add one journaling card and one decorative card for each day. That's it! But I can procrastinate with the best of them so not sure why this surprises me still.

Anyway, here's the only finished page I have for WITL. It's a few photos, a journaling card and a decorative card. I used the October Mix Tape kit from Scrapbook Circle. It's a super simple spread but I like the photo heaviness of it. I hope I find the momentum to keep going and not let this fall into the scrapbook project wasteland!

Tessa blogged about this on the Scrapbook Circle blog. Head over there for more about this spread!

Thirty One at 31

Friday, October 16, 2015

I have a tradition. Every year I write xx facts about me at xx year. You can see my past pages here: 28 at 28, 29 at 29, 30 at 30. This year I mixed it up a bit and decided to scrapbook this using a divided page protector. All of the products are from the Scrapbook Circle Mix Tape kit & Cassette add-on. I blogged about this over on the SBC blog. Head that away for more about this page (which I'm loving!)

Decades Minibook

Saturday, September 19, 2015

Don't you just love it, when you have an idea in your head and you get so excited about it?! And then you actually sit down and do it.

For me, the ideas come quick and fast. So many ideas and not enough time is my consistent problem. I get really excited about something and some times start (or not even start) and then I lose my momentum. I think this is why I'm so proud of this mini book. I made a whole friggin MINI BOOK on a Sunday!

I'm calling it the Decades mini book. It's all about me, my mom, my aunt and my cousin. Four ladies, all related, all roughly 10 years apart in age. We have 50, 40, 30 and 20's represented here. To any marketing overlords, if you're interested in product testing for a diverse age range of Hispanic women, we're your girls! ;)

I blogged about this mini over on the Scrapbook Circle blog. I even included a slideshow to show you how this came together, how I worked on it bit by bit and page by page.

Who's Who: Book Journal

Friday, February 25, 2011

I was so inspired by the book theme in January's Who's Who SC kit, that I put together this altered journal.

I like to take notes when I read, keep quotes and record little tidbits that sound pleasing to the ear. That's what this little journal is for. It's tiny, compact and portable. I love that I can throw it in my purse along with my book.

I tore up the Hoopla Paper Layers from the Dear Abby add-on and decoupaged them onto a cardstock base, with bits of that truly gorgeous sheet of Curio (Basic Grey) patterned paper sprinkled in. Then, I used the stamp from the main kit to add some books for the theme and some green distress ink to add some depth to the design.

I covered the entire book with UTEE which gave it its' shiny sheen. Then, added some book tape (from Paper Source) but it's more for show than function. It doesn't really like the UTEE (it doesn't stick very well) but I like the book effect it adds.

I finished it off with a 3D kite from Martha's spring collection. It was just too perfect! And for the inside, I used the opposite side of the Curio patterned paper for end papers.
I made this for recording my notes for my book reviews. Now I definitely don't have an excuse to procrastinate this one ;) Thanks for stopping by!

The Houston Project

Thursday, January 20, 2011

Seems I can’t get enough of the colors in the December Studio Calico kit! What can I say, they’re my faves: yellow, gray, and turquoise. I was instantly attracted to that piece of patterned paper by Basic Grey, the cityscape one. And I thought it’d be the most perfect cover for a mini book I’ve wanted to make.

Here’s what I’ve been mulling around in my head for a bit: The Houston Project. I’ve been living in Houston for oh...5 months now. And I still haven’t seen very much of it. Heck, I still don’t really like it. It’s large and a bit pretentious. The people aren’t that great and I largely feel out of place. But, it’s where I’m going to be for at least another year or two. I have to get to like it, if only for my own sanity! Hating where you live just breeds bad juju and I need all the good vibes I can get!
In an effort to embrace my new city, I really want to get out and explore. To see new parts of the city, to meet new people even. To just get out of the little (and I do mean little) rut I’ve carved out for myself, in this metropolis.
And also, an underlying goal here is to work on my photography skills. If I can find beauty and culture and architecture (dubious) here in Houston, then when I’m out and about in London and Istanbul, I won’t have to play catch up. If that makes any sense!
I created this mini using only the Metropolitan Kit + Mass Transit add-on. It was made entirely from scratch and was binded using the accordion fold method (thanks Jessica Bree for introducing me to this!).

I love that in one night, during a sitting as long as the movie Avatar (it was on HBO) I was able to create something from literally nothing. There aren’t a lot of pages, but I’m ok with that. I added a couple of envelopes to hide extra photos away in, if need be. It’s a sweet little mini that I’m excited to put photos into. I’ll be sure to post when it’s all complete!
