Scrapbook Challenges-281

Scrapbook Challenges! Remember those lovely ladies? I was part of their design team in 2010 and Brynn asked if I could Guest Design for them this February.

I jumped at the chance to play with the ladies and these sketches.

Brynn recently re-vamped the entire site and I must say, it looks gorgeous! It's well and professionally done and a great little nest for creativity. Please, check them out.

There's even a Membership Drive going on at the moment! Join or invite someone to join and you could win big =)

Here's how:
  • Every person that joins the site & posts a mini of 5 times gets entered into a drawing for a $50 Scrapbook.com gift voucher!
  • And if you're a current member and you refer someone (who then enters your name in the referral section of the registration process) you're entered to win a $25 Scrapbook.com gift voucher!
Easy peasy! Click on the link to find out more details.

Now on to the real reason I'm here. To share my take on Sketch 281! Isn't it fab?

My take was super literal, except that I made it 8 1/2 x 11. Hey, don't mess with a good thing right?

The photos are from Hawaii and are printed to be reminiscent of instax shots. Which is what I immediately thought of when I saw this sketch. So happy to have been able to get 5 photos on an 8 1/2 x 11 layout!

I must have felt a bit blue that day with all of these blue details. The majority of the products I used are American Crafts Margarita line with some Basic Grey Lauderdale thrown in.

I used 2 sets of Thickers and some October Afternoon & Basic Grey letter stickers for the long and ambling title. The tiny butterflies and sequins are the perfect finishing touches.

Like I said before, happy to be playing with Scrapbook Challenges again. Definitely check them out! And check back the rest of February for other sketches, maybe some posts from my trip (maybe ;) and a challenge or two.

Oh, and don't forget to post here to have a chance to win the Kelly Purkey Sketchbook/Sketchpad RAK!

cheers & besos,

Habits Mini

Thursday, February 2, 2012

In all the mayhem that goes along with CHA, I didn't have the chance to post the mini I created a few weeks back.

Like I said before, I'm not doing resolutions in 2012. Instead, I'm working on cultivating habits.

As a way to keep up and keep track I made this little flashcard mini to keep me inspired!

My three habits from January (and now February as well) all happened to start with "W's".

wake up.
work out.
write.

On the backs of these, I made sure I had a specific goal & a plan as well as a place to follow up to make sure I was sticking to them.

And guess what? It's actually working! Just having the goal and my plan written down, has done wonders for my psyche.

If you have a goal you're struggling with, I encourage you to sit down write the goal and a plan for completing it and you might just find that it's the push you needed =)

SC CHAllenges: Pink Cards

Monday, January 30, 2012

From white pages to pink cards! Back this morning to share 2 cards I made for the Studio Calico CHAllenges.

The first is for Dawn's Diecut Washi challenge. I fittingly made a card using some of her Papertrey Ink products, the Signature Series: Cupcakes.

It's a tiny little valentine-esque card that will probably make its way to Japan this year =)

And a second pink card for MT's best friend and his wife. After a long and difficult process, they're going to have a baby! They've just found out that they're having a little girl.

J is such a dude bro, I don't know how's he going to handle it. I couldn't help but create something frilly and girly to send his way.

I used Susan's 4 Punch card challenge to create this pink masterpiece. There are 2 scallop border punches, the jewel border punch, circle punch and heart punch used in this design.

Thanks yall for stopping by! And don't forget to comment on this post for a chance to win a RAK!

cheers & besos,
