Scrap Space Vol. 1

Sunday, June 21, 2015

Organization! This topic seems to be everywhere in the scrapbooking industry right now:
Since it's been on my mind, I thought it was finally time to share my scrap space re-organization. I did all of this the first week of January. Yeah….six whole months ago. And of course I'm just now getting around to sharing! But I'm ok with that.

It all started with a book I keep hearing about: The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo.

I initially found out about it in the Simple Scrapper Facebook group. Jennifer shared an article she read about the Konmari method of organization. Which I then read. I thought this solution sounded interesting so I bought the book (according to Amazon on November 20, 2014). And then it just hung out on my Kindle app for months...
I tend to do that, jump in on a new project without taking a second to stop and ask myself, do you really have time to do this?? I did not. If you'll remember this past Fall was one of the busiest travel seasons of my life. Of the 12 weeks, I was traveling for 8 of them: different cities, different countries, some for fun, some for business.

It wasn't until after the holidays that things started to slow down. And you know the power of the New Year.  January approaches and it's a time for re-invention and a chance to re-group. For me, the first of the year is always a lovely idealistic time when I set expectations (or resolutions) for what I'll accomplish during the year. One thing I knew I needed to do was organize the mountain of stuff that had become my scrap space.

So on probably 1 January of this year, I read the book. It's a short book that's really easy to get through. I think I read the whole thing in just a few hours. It was a such an interesting read and interesting from both a tidying perspective and a cultural perspective (the author is Japanese).
If you've heard anything about this book, you're likely familiar with one of its main principles: if something you own, an item that lives in your house and takes up space doesn't bring you joy, then get rid of it. OR, surround yourself only with items that spark joy.

That was huge for my organization project! As scrapbookers, we tend to have a lot of stuff. And a lot of stuff that we probably don't need and maybe even don't like! The odds and ends from a kit you purchased but didn't use because they just aren't your style. A whole collection pack of papers, when really you can only see yourself using a few sheets. A bag of things you purchased to create a project that you don't even have an interest in doing anymore. The stuff you bought on sale because it was such good deal! But once you got home didn't look nearly as fun or as versatile as you had imagined. I could go on and on!

With the idea of "does this spark joy?" in my head, I was really brutal about what I was going to give away. I tossed nearly all of my ribbon. I got rid of just about every bottle of acrylic paint I owned. I cut down more than six inches of my paper stash.

So much stuff went off to my local CPS for their Lifebooks program. I wish I had snapped a photo of all that I gave away (Phone was left in the car. I had to make two trips to get everything inside and didn't want to lug my purse along in the process!). Visual a 5 ft tall stack of boxes plus a whole 12x12x12 cube full of all of my paper scraps.

It felt sooo good to give all of that away! Marie writes about the feeling you get when you lighten your load and it's so true. You feel it. I personally felt the spacious she describes.
The second big takeaway I had from this book, was the lack of organizational solutions. As in, don't go buy those pretty bins or that fancy wall unit just yet. You have to understand all that you want to keep (by purging the things that don't spark joy) in order to figure out the best solution for what you have.

I have my stuff organized in some really gorgeous boxes now. But that didn't come until the very very very end of the process. When I knew exactly how much I had, and could therefore find solutions for organizing those specific things.

For me, this process meant going through every last drawer, bin, basket, magazine holder, bottle, jar and box I had. Looking at and touching each item. And once the triage--keep, toss, donate--was complete, figuring out where to put everything back.

Over my next few blog posts, I'll share how I put everything back. I'll share how my desk is organized. What I have at my fingertips. Where I store my paper and embellishments. Where my kits and non-scrapbook/general office supply products live. I'll open up every box. Show a peek inside every drawer. I also plan to talk about how my shopping habits have changed.

I have a lot to say on this topic so I hope you'll join me here on the blog over the next few weeks.
I have some final words to say about that life changing little book (it's only 226 pages!) Which as the title suggests, is actually life changing.

Here's what has changed for me, as I approached re-organizing my scrap space after reading this book:
  • My scrap space is organized. I know exactly where everything is and can get to whatever I'm looking for within seconds.
  • I'm able to sit down at my desk and start scrapbooking. Like immediately! I no longer have to pick up a pile of stuff and figure out where to put it while I'm working at my desk, only to put the pile back when I'm done for the day.
  • I shop less and use more.
  • I feel that sense of spaciousness in my room
Not only is my space less cluttered, my mind is also free of the guilt that use to go hand in hand with this un-tidy space. So basically, not only does this book un-clutter your physical space, it also helps you un-clutter your mind.

If you consider reading it or have already read it, I'd love to hear your thoughts! Not only did I use what I learned to re-organize my scrapbook space, I've also re-organized my bedroom closet and bathroom as well. Next stops are the built-in bookshelf and chest of drawers in the dining area. For me slow and steady wins the race when it comes to these large organizational projects.

And an added bonus! This is one year when I've actually been able to stick with a New Year's resolution. Take that lizard brain!! But that's a sentiment from another non-fiction book...

Summer Goals 2014

Sunday, June 1, 2014

Summa summa summertime y'all! Summer is my second favorite season, after Fall of course. I love this time of year and I'm excited for it to start! Last year was so much fun. I made so many great memories and got a bunch of stuff done. Not everything on my list but more than half, which made me very happy.
I'm going with the idea of creating a list of goals again. It worked for me last year, hopefully it will this year as well!

I decided on 4 categories, 3 things for each. Which means, I just need to work on 4 goals a month. That seems do-able, no? Especially in the organization categories, it's not too hard to tackle one problem area a month--essentially one day on a weekend.

Here they are, and of course I have two scrapbook categories ;)

Scrapbook: Play!
  • Pacific Northwest trip: This is already in progress. I can't wait to finish & share!
  • Catch up on PL pages: Guys, I'm just done with this project. I'll try again in the Fall. Right now I just want to focus on getting back to the pages I've already done. I have photos printed out, cards in sleeves, but no journaling and no embellishing. It's turned into a sad sad little project. Le sigh....
  • Mixed Media Pieces: Much like last summer, I had an idea on my head for some mixed media artwork. I really REALLY REALLLLY want to make these. I just haven't done it yet. This summer, I will make time.
Scrapbook: Non-Scrap
  • Organize patterned paper: I started this earlier this year. It's how I came up with that huge mountain of purge items! But then I didn't label the categories I had made and now I kind of can't figure out what I was thinking. So there's about 8 inches of paper just sitting there wondering why I've abandoned it.
  • Sell/donate: that mountain of purge items I have just sitting there. I would like to sell some of it, I think people might be interested. I just know it takes time and effort to list, answer enquiries, package and ship everything. I just haven't had the time. For a few extra bucks, I should probably  get on this!
  • Organize ephemera: Hey! That's back on the list again, you may say. Yes, yes it is. I have no idea why this has given me the biggest mental block. Is it because of the odd sizes? The lack of idea of what to do with it all? I mean I have two ideas that make me excited. But not excited enough to do the work it seems. Either way, I really want to do this.

Health/Mind/Body
  • Nutrition: I need to understand this. I really have no clue. I'd like to find a good resource to just understand the science. I want to eat better. I don't want to diet. I need to figure this out.
  • Workout Routine: Yep, definitely need to work on this. I'm turning 30 this year. I want to approach my 30's with a good idea of how to be healthy and to get/stay in shape.
  • Read! Read! Read: I'd like to read 3 non-fiction for the betterment of my life, mind, financial status, etc. type books. I've had Brene Brown's The Gift of Imperfection on my Kindle for awhile. I definitely want to spend time this summer reading and absorbing. Jury's still out on the other 2 books. 7 Habits of Highly Effective People? Maybe...we'll see. Do you have any suggestions? I'd love to hear!
Organization
Every home has crazy junk drawers, no go areas where things just magically appear. I have a few of those and I need to work on cleaning them out.

  • Under the beds
  • Closet (bedroom/hall/bathrooms)
  • Bookshelf and dining room drawers

I've typed all this out to share my goals, but I'm realizing I'd like to write a bit more about my hopes for the summer. My summer manifesto if you will. I'm excited about what's just around the corner for me. I think they'll be a bit lot of change. It's going to make things interesting for sure!

What about y'all? Where's your summer taking you? What do you have planned to do or not do? I'd love to hear!

cheers & besos,

Summer Update

Sunday, September 1, 2013

First off, the winners of the Scrapbooking for the Soul giveaway!
Congrats to GnomeHome and Melanie G =)

I picked one winner from the commenters here and one from the commenters on the thread I started at 2Peas. (I wasn't very clear about which post to post on...but happy I had already decided to giveaway 2 spots!). Ladies, I'll Peamail you!

Secondly, I just want to say, if you didn't win, seriously consider purchasing the class. I promise you won't be disappointed!

Thirdly, it's the end of summer. I blinked and it was gone! At the beginning of June I sat down and made a list of goals. Now that it's the end of August, it's time to check in on what I've accomplished.

  • 01. Grandparents Mini. Not started
  • 02. Note Mini. Done! And gifted...and oh yeah, I made two =)
  • 03. Japan Mini. Nearly done! I just need one last push to help check this one off. But the project isn't inspiring to me anymore (and I'm questioning if it ever was) so I'm thinking I should just call it quits.
  • 04. Start Travels Mini. I started it and never shared it. Whoops! The minor hold up on this one is that I need to organize my ephemera before it can really get going. But hey, the goal was to start it and it's started!
  • 05. Start Paper Life Mini. Not started.
  • 06. Start Project 12 Mini. I did this yesterday and am hooked! Why didn't I start this sooner?
  • 07. Update blog design. Done! But I'm thinking I might want to do this again....
  • 08. Catch up on classes. I signed up for several throughout the summer and kept up with them! I also went back through Wilna's Art class so definitely accomplished that. I did not even crack open the binder with all of my Maggie Holmes lessons. I'd say this ones about 3/4 of the way to done.
  • 09. Organize ephemera. Maybe tomorrow? I'm not feeling as rushed to accomplish this. Not started.
  • 10. Create art. It's done! Thanks to Camp Scrap and May's Mixed Media mini class, I was able to gather the necessary tools to get what I had in my head down on canvas.
  • 11. Decorate guest room. I finished it! So excited about how this room turned out. I never shared the photos. Is this something yall would be interested in seeing? Just curious :)
  • 12. Walk 100 miles. My energy levels were terrible this summer. I'm working with my doctor to figure this out! But it didn't leave me with much gumption to get out there and do this. Still in progress.
  • 13. Take 100 pictures. Between Chicago, Los Angeles, Austin and all of the random birthday celebrations this summer. I'm totally set with a whole new set of stories and photos to scrapbook. Done!

As you can see, I didn't finish them all. But I think I'm ok with that. I did accomplish 7, so that's more than half and more than what I would have done without sitting down to make this list. And that makes me happy.

Hope you all have a lovely rest of the weekend!

cheers & besos,

Geotag Canvas

Sunday, June 30, 2013

Hey yall! Back this afternoon sharing my latest piece of altered art. It's a mixed media canvas that I've wanted to do for sooooo long now. And thanks to May's mini class in Camp Scrap, I was able to get it done.

I've had this idea for at least a year now. And I'm so happy that I finally got around to doing it. Plus! I used this crap old canvas I had started to paint on in 2009!!! It's just been dragged from one apartment to the next in its ugly half painted state. Upcycling at it's best =)

I dug into my postcard collection for this piece. I've collected them from all over the world and wanted to get them up in my apartment in some way. And so, this geotag canvas was born.

I went to Kinko's and photocopied and lightened all of my postcards. I also reduced the size to 80%. When I got home, I decopauged them to the canvas using Perfect Paper Adhesive. It was my first stab at this kind of thing, so some of the pages bubbled, some of the corners didn't stick. But I was ok with that. I wanted it to look handmade.

Using wrapping paper (because who gets actual newspapers anymore?!) I made a template of the geotag and traced it over the postcards. After that, it took a somewhat steady hand to outline it in black and then paint the rest of the canvas. It's far from perfect but I absolutely love how it turned out!

Here are a few close ups:
I hung it on the wall that's directly in front of my bedroom door. You can see it as you walk from the living room to the kitchen. I've loved catching glimpses of it as I walk around the apartment.

And, as you can see. I really like black canvases with white designs! Over my bed is an older piece I did of the London skyline. I also have a huge canvas over my living room couch.

cheers & besos,

Goals: June Update

How is it the last day of June?! Where in the heck has this year gone? And look at us, already 1/3 of the way through summer. So crazy, but such is life.

As it is the end of the month, I wanted to revisit my summer goals; to give yall a little update on my progress. Here they are again with my comments:
  • 01. Grandparents Mini. Not started
  • 02. Note Mini. Not started
  • 03. Japan Mini. Nearly done! I just need one last push to help check this one off.
  • 04. Start Travels Mini. Well lookie there, it's started! More on this, later in the week.

  • 05. Start Paper Life Mini. Not started.
  • 06. Start Project 12 Mini. Not started.
  • 07. Update blog design. Done!
  • 08. Catch up on classes. Well, I've more or less kept up with the one class I'm currently taking. Just need to get back through the older two I had wanted to revisit.
  • 09. Organize ephemera. I pulled everything out and got overwhelmed in about 2.5 seconds. So I put everything away again. I'll get to this this summer. I'm determined. But just not today.
  • 10. Create art. It's done! Thanks to Camp Scrap and May's Mixed Media mini class, I was able to gather the necessary tools to get what I had in my head down on canvas. Check back later for a full post on this project.
  • 11. Decorate guest room. I finished it! So excited about how this room turned out. More on the blog later this afternoon.
  • 12. Walk 100 miles. According to my calculations, I'm at 34.7 miles. Right on track!
  • 13. Take 100 pictures. Thanks Chicago, for all of the great memories and for helping add to my scrap-able photo bucket. I'd say we're at 60 photos.
I'm so proud of myself for setting up my goals and getting them done. I love making lists and ticking things off of them, but when it comes to goals, I always find it difficult to stick with them. This is the first time I've really followed through.

So much of it had to do with my mindset. Since I love my list of goals, I really wanted to get them done. Nearly everyday this month I'd think to myself, "ok what's one thing I can do to help me tick off a goal". Having goals that I love, I think has helped tremendously.

That room didn't come together over night, I had to buy the bookshelf. Then on a separate trip I had to buy some storage bins. I spent another day hanging things and making up the bed.

Same with the mixed media piece. One day I had to make the photo copies. Another, I bought the adhseive. And of course, it took a few days to actually finish the piece.

Taking the time to make them cognitive thoughts as I've gone through my days, has been the reason I'm able to check things off my list!

4 goals completely checked off, 3 goals well on their way to being completed and 6 to be started. With 2 months left to go, I like my odds.

What about yall? Did you make any summer goals? Have you stuck to them? I'd love to hear!

cheers & besos,

Summer Goals

Saturday, June 1, 2013

It's back on!

Earlier this year, I decided to stop my scrapbook spending and focus instead on stash busting. But then something awesome happened and it had to end. This summer though, I've decided the diet is back on.

It got bad again guys...I just couldn't not hit buy on all of the very pretty things I was seeing.

It's cool. I've slowly backed away from the computer and stashed my debit card.

But the summer of my no scrapbook shopping has begun.

Same rules still apply, I do get to buy adhesive and refills when needed. But no new Thickers or Patterned Papers. Stamps or Stickers. No ma'am. Na ah. It's over, all done.

I'm working on doing some light purging, so I'll have a RAK up here in a few days. But for now and as of June 1st, I'm officially on the wagon.

Now that that's out the way, I thought it'd be a great time to talk about summer goals.

I seriously cannot believe it's already June. Where has 2013 gone?! But guys, I'm seriously excited for the summer to be here.

Even though I'm working full time, there's just something about the summer months  that make you feel like you're going to get a break. Or that hectic life schedules will slow down for once. And that you'll have some free time. It might be a myth or a fallacy, but at least it feels that way to me.

Here's a few summer projects I'm hoping to tackle:
  • 01-03. Finish three paper projects. I'm planning to create the Grandparents Mini,  Note Mini and Japan Mini that I've bought suppliers for and never got around to making!
  • 04-06. Start three paper projects. I've semi-started one, but am excited to start two other new mini books. Geez, this is starting to sound like the summer of the mini!
  • 07. Update blog design. Done last night! Well really the wee hours of this morning.
  • 08. Catch up on classes. Specifically, I want to read through my Maggie Holmes Photo class (she's not even doing them anymore, that's how behind I am on this class!) and Wilna's Art class. But I'm also signed up for Camp Scrap and Hello Story this summer and I'm soo excited! Summer school at it's best!
  • 09. Organize ephemera. That's going to help me get started on one of those paper projects I'm hoping to create. It's going to take some time and a lot of organization, but I'm excited about it.
  • 10. Create art. I've had this idea in my head for a piece of wall art I'd like to make, for awhile now. I just haven't done it. I think this summer's the perfect time to get it done.
  • 11. Decorate guest room. It's a junk room really. All of the stuff I don't know what to do with is just lined up against a wall. Something needs to be done and it should be today or tomorrow, I'm thinking it'll happen. Maybe...
  • 12. Walk 100 miles. I have a pedometer and the Nike fitness app. Plus plans for when to do this (Saturday morning & Monday night, plus Zumba on Wednesdays). It's getting done this year.
  • 13. Take pictures. I need more things to scrapbook. I've been so not inspired by my photos a lot  lately and that needs to change. So I'm determined to capture more. Not just with my iPhone but also with that fancy camera I invested all that money in. Plus this goes well with Goal No. 08. Let's throw a number at it, I'd like 100 new scrapbook worthy photos to add to my catalog this summer.

So there you go. I didn't really intend for there to be 13 but once I started, I thought why not?

I'm excited about this summer. I've already decided, it's going to be epic!

cheers & besos,

2011 Curriculum

Monday, January 17, 2011

I’m bursting with ideas for scrappy projects in 2011. My trusty binder has tons of lists and scribbles and ideas filling it’s lovely teal lined pages. So I thought I’d gather them all up, write them all down and share them with you all so that maybe your creativity could be sparked too!
Someone else online (I’m so sorry but I don’t remember who!) did a post along these same lines and called it her 2011 Curriculum. I loved that idea so I'm calling mine that too!
The Houston Project: More details to come!

Project 12: I feel that I’d be way too overwhelmed to tackle Project 365 or even Project 52. Project 12 seems like the most I can handle. I nabbed a piece of every single design of Ki Memories stitched calendars. They’re dripping with gorgeousness and I’m excited to put them to use! I figure a double page spread, 1 page calendar, 1 page 12x12 layout should do the trick. I’m already collecting bits and pieces (See Tuesday’s post “This Week Mini” for more details on how) and snapping photos along the way.
Paper Heart Project: More details to come!
No. 143: Slowly but surely, since moving into my apartment in September I’ve been decorating. I can’t afford to do it all in one go, but I’ve been collecting things here and there. I plan on sharing my handmade art, my collections, and just random bits and pieces of the apartment throughout the year.

Country a Month: Enough is enough!! It’s been 2 years since I’ve moved back to the US and I still have mountains of photos of my time abroad left to scrapbook. I had the resolution to do this last year. But didn’t follow through. This year, I’m forcing myself to scrapbook even just a tiny portion of the photos and choosing to tackle 1 country a month. If I make 2 pages from each country, I feel like I’ll be able to call it a success! For the month of January, I’ll be scrapping photos from a trip to Austria! Be sure to check back for the pages.

Book Review: I love to read. Did you know that? It’s been a life long “hobby” of mine. I devour books of all kinds, but my favorites are memoirs, real life stories. This year, I’ve chosen 12 scrapbook/design/art/creativity/life related books and each month I’ll be “reviewing” one of them. January’s book is The Happiness Project. Ok, so not very art/design-ish but I feel, still very relevant, especially since scrapbooking is a big part of what makes me happy.

So that’s it. It’s enough, no? I hope you’re as excited as I am, for all the creativity about to ensue on the blog. Be sure to check back for these along with my usual project posts. I can’t promise I’ll have something every day, but I do plan to be more diligent in my blogging. See ya later alligators.
xxbesos

Resolution 2011 Mini

Sunday, January 2, 2011

Happy New Year!!!

So I was suppose to have this post up 2 days ago (meep!!) but me being me (read: Latina) of course it's taken me this long to get around to it. I'm not so bothered. I had a fun New Years celebrating in Austin with my besties!

But on to my mini....

I walked around Paper Source for the first time last week. It's a shame really, that's its taken me so long to go in there. Especially considering it's under a mile away and I can walk there in less than 10 mins! But the store was cute and fun and I'll most definitely be going back.

I loved their wall of envelopes!! Stacks upon stacks of gorgeous envies in all colors of the rainbow. The A2 size in persimmon came home with me and I knew just what to do with them (see Savings Mini), but they were also the launching point for another mini, my resolutions one. I love the orangey red hue and when I saw the goldfish wrapping paper, figured that needed to make its way home with me too!

The actual book is a mixed media type, complete with envelope, kraft card, and mini file folder (also from Paper Source). And I went with a red orange/orange/teal/white color scheme.

This year, I decided on 11 resolutions/goals to work toward this year. They are in no particular order, but some are more important to me than others. Oh, and there are 3 scrappy goals mixed in as well...

1. Budget/Save.

I have actual income!! Waa hoo!! After 19 months of being unemployed, you have no idea how it feels to actually be making money again. But I'm not in college anymore. I need to spend responsibly and with restraint (oh darn...) I concocted up that Savings Mini from the last post, and worked out a budget for myself this year.

2. Volunteer More.

I've always been a big volunteer-er. I like getting involved in making a difference and spending my time doing worthwhile things. But, it's been a few years since I've been really active. And now that I'm in a new city, I figure it's time to start volunteering again. And hey, maybe meet some new people along the way.

Scrappy Goals:

3. Use more/buy less. 'Nuff said!

4. Improve photography and photo editing skills.

5. 2011 is the year of the enlarged photo!

6. Use/Learn Spanish.

Just improve I guess. I'm not fluent by any means, and I could get buy if push came to shove, but I really need to learn more and use it often!

7. Get involved in the Houston community.

Ok, so less whinging about how much I hate Houston and more embarking on new adventures and meeting new cool people. In a city of 3 million, there has to be some new friends out there! I want to find a church. I want to find a group to crop with it. I want to meet new people!

8. Purge and donate quarterly.

So this is totally a scrapbooking goal but also could be a house cleaning one as well. This last move was such a nightmare. I truly don't need all this stuff!! In an effort to stay on top of things and not leave it until it's time to move again, I'd like to keep as tight and simplistic as possible. This is going to be such a challenge. I see value in everything! But I want to strive for more minimalism in 2011.

Oh and scrapbookers, I've found a very good way to get rid of those extra supplies! Contact your local city adoption agency, there's a program they do with children called Life Books. They're always looking for supplies! I donated a huge box and bag to them last year and they were so grateful.

9. Move more, Eat Less.

Totally inspired by Cathy Zielske but also because I need to. I was just diagnosed with diabetes. I HAVE to get in shape now. My life could truly depend on it!

10. Run a 10k marathon.

Because how else will I know I'm accomplishing No. 9!

11. Reconnect with friends.

Thanks to Mountbatten, I have a whole network of friends the world over. Mainly, everyone's here in the US, but all so spread apart. I want to see everyone that I can! I miss my second family so much! I'm coming for you Claire, Zahra and Monica! Hopefully, you too Becky and Sarah!

So that's them! All 11 of 'em. I think for the most part I focused on things that are less quantitative and more qualitative [quality being the operative word]. I don't want to be caught up in numbers and achievements. I just want to do more.

Shimelle was talking about her NY's resolutions minis on the PRT podcast, and she shared how she keeps her's out in the open, so she's reminded of them all of the time. I decided to do the same. It's front and center, on the shelf above my desk.

Again, Happy New Year yall!!

xxbesos

Scrapping in 2010

Thursday, December 31, 2009

Happy New Year's Eve!!

I can't believe this year is coming to a close. It hasn't been the best year. In fact it's been the most difficult year to date, for me at least. But I've learned a lot and I'm excited to see what's in store for 2010. There's no where to go but up, right?
Since this is a scrapping blog, I thought I'd take the time to map out some of my 2010 Goals (not resolutions) for my favorite creative outlet. Being the MBA that I am, I of course had to make sure that each of my goals are SMART.

S: Specific
M: Measurable
A: Achievable
R: Realistic
T: Time Conscious

Without out further adieu, here are my dreams, hopes and wishes ;) for 2010!
  1. Tackle my Europe/Asia Photos: Although this has seemed so daunting to me in the past, I have to get it done! These photos represent the best year of my life! What better way to celebrate them, than to scrapbook them! Each month, I'd like to work on a specific country, in order to not be too overwhelmed. By the end of 2010 I might not have every country tackled but I'll at least have made a significant dent in all of these amazing photos!
  2. Stay consistent with Urijah's Baby Album: I've been horribly lax with keeping up with the life and times of Urijah John! I'll scrapbook a page here and there but they're so varied and inconsistent. Entire months of his young life are missing! I'd like to start from the beginning and work my way up to the current. Each month, I'd like to create at least 2 layouts for all 3 (count 'em) of his scrapbooks.
  3. Incorporate new Scrapping Techniques: In 2009, I incorporated the use of mists, mini books, border punches and a personal die cutting machine, into my scrapping repertoire. In 2010 I'd like to also explore sewing on pages, embossing, and delving into the digi world, as resolutions for my technical abilities.
  4. Maintain and Enhance the Blog: I have a lot of new and exciting (at least for me) ideas for amping up this blog! You can expect project updates, tutorials, small RAKS and my biggest surprise yet. {Shh! It's under wraps until the New Year!} It isn't realistic for me to blog everyday, but I am bound and determined to post at least twice a week. I hope you'll be back to join in on the fun!
  5. Participate in a Scrapping Community: I am privileged to be part of an online community over at 2Ps. We're gearing up for the New Year and planning, in advance, the Young Scrappers swaps and crops. Every quarter we hope to do an ATC swap and once every 4 months, an online crop. I'd also like to participate in local crops, in an effort to meet new people in the scrapping community. I have my first crop in 6 years coming up next weekend. I'm bubbling with excitement! I hope to be able to join in a crop once a quarter as well.
  6. Budget! Budget! Budget! I'll be the first to admit that I went hog wild this year, with all of my scrapping purchases! I have enough supplies to sustain my scrapping as well as the scrapping of a small country! Inevitably, it's time to pull back the reins and focus more on the using than the purchasing. My goal is to only spend $50 a month, with 3 months alloted for a $100 spree. That's $750!! Which sounds like a lot of money, but I actually spent double that at 2Ps alone {Gulp!}, this past year =/ Yeah, it's definitely time for some tough love on my part.
Well, that's my small, but none the less easy, list of goals for scrapping in 2010. I'm excited about this upcoming year and for all of the wonderful opportunities to explore in my community, throughout the world, and within in myself.

Wishing you all a blessed and bountiful 2010!

xxbesos
