More Christmas Goodness

Two Peas in a Bucket is not only a wonderful place to shop, it also houses the best online forum for sharing your personal projects. Known as the Gallery, it's the first place I turn to when I'm looking for some inspiration. The layouts and cards are created by some of the best scrappers our community has to offer and I'm never short of a great layout to emulate or an amazing color scheme to imitate. Here are a few of my "mediocre copies of another [scrappers] genius".

Doublemint Twins

I fell instantly in love with Vivian Masket's simple yet sophisticated "Peppermint" layout. I thought I'd be clever and play off the doublemint twin commercials and throw in some purple to highlight the oh so fun stripped purple thermals, Nina and Mia were wearing. The perfect tie-in with a peppermint theme!

Riverwalk

candiMandi was the influence for this layout. Her "Summer Fare" layout instantly reminded me of these amazing photos from Matt's and my jaunt over to the newest part of the San Antonio Riverwalk. The colors she used translated so well to this layout with these particular photos. The Sassafrass Lass patterned paper and the sewing did the rest.

The color scheme and the general layout from scrappygirljenni's "Christmas 2009 December Memories" pages, influenced my Leija Family Christmas. I loved the non-traditional Christmas colors and that I was able to use 6 photos and utilize my border punches. This was also my first stab at machine sewing. Lets just say, I'm glad I was going for a "distressed" look.

Christmas Layouts

According to Matt

Well Christmas may have come and gone, but at least the photos remain! The best part ;) for a scrapbooker at least! These are my initial Christmas creations.

According to Matt was inspired by the into page of a magazine. All of the journaling was 100% written by my uber-amazing boyfriend. Simply because I asked! (I believe "I have an assignment for you" were my exact words...) His words really touched me and make this page one of my most special layouts!

As part of Matt's box in a box present, I typed out little "I love you's" to wrap around the lemons in the biggest box. He lovingly allowed me to keep them, knowing they'd be put to good use. Thus, they are the feature of this page. Along with these awesome Basic Grey Eskimo Kisses brads! I also really love the American Crafts snowflake paper. Something I discovered this holiday season? Robin's Egg Blue is a perfectly acceptable and amenable Christmas color!

Riverwalk Christmas Lights

These photos are by far and away my favorites from our first Christmas. It was a shared first time, to visit the River Walk in Downtown San Antonio, on Christmas day. It was quiet and chilly but a wonderful way to end our Christmas. Love the non-traditional bright colors featured in this seasons Cosmo Cricket line. Their products and my photos made for a match made in scrappers heaven.

Family of Trees

This was a scraplift of fellow pea's Family Tree layout. I played around with it a bit more and made the trees into my cousins! Well, I really just called them trees. Jessica is my oldest and tallest cousin (Seriously, she's taller than all of our boy cousins as well!) who just happened to marry a tall man. Subsequently, their 5 kids have all ended up as mini lurches and crazy amazons! Her 15 year old daughter is already 2 inches taller than me! I love the perspective and the graphic nature of my inspiration's LO. Glad to have achieved something similar.

Playing Catch Up

Mission San Jose

Before I left for Ohio, I was hastily trying to finish my latest album of Matt's visit to Texas. Unfortunately, it didn't get done. Only because 1) Urijah came for a visit and 2) I was on my death bed before I left. Excuses, excuses! I know! I know! But I'm working on it now and hopefully will be done soon.

I love how this layout of Mission San Jose turned out. Busted out my most favorite paper line ever, Basic Grey's Marrakech collection. It went so well with the earthy vintage feel of the missions. Oh, and this was also my first experiment with my new little photo printer! I had a blast printing out all of these tiny little pictures.

Window

Oh this layout...{{sigh}} What can I say? I liked it when it was plain, then I felt the need to "dress it up" and I'm not happy with the results. I kinda feel like I ruined a good thing. Well, there's not going back now. I'll have to live with it I suppose but I don't have to be happy about it.

ACL-Friday

The first of our ACL layouts! Hoorah! I cut up the little program they gave us and used it for the title. These were probably some of my favorite pics of Matt and I that weekend. And can I mention the spectacular weather! If only it would have lasted...

Claire

Last but certainly not least was mine and Claire's reunion. Since we both moved away from Texas at the same time, we hadn't actually been back in the same city at the same time in over 2 years. It was so good to see her! Even for that brief amount of time. Claire bear I'm coming to see you first chance I get!
